INSPIRED: Tutti Frutti FroYo

THE 2010/2011 INSPIRED/EXPIRED AWARDS
Category: Best Brain-freezing Indulgence
FroYo, short for Frozen Yogurt, is a tasty and icy dessert brought to urban flabbies primarily via the 20-odd Tutti Frutti outlets in Malaysia. I want to zero in on this franchise in particular, because of their pay-by-weight, self-serve stations: yummehs both visually and to the palate; very devious as a profit-engorging concept.
One gets so carried away by the possible combinations of flavours on display (papaya, green tea, peach, tripleberry) and toppings (carob chips, granola, chestnuts). It’s almost like kindergarten, where it was okay to play with your food! Then you come to the cashier, and find out that your colourful cup of yogurt costs a heart-stopping RM20+.
Still, frozen yogurt is a healthier alternative to ice-cream, so Tutti Frutti’s offerings — and the way in which they are offered — are squarely INSPIRED.
Trivia: the licensor for this brand of soft-serve froyo in Southeast Asia is Naza Tutti Frutti (M) Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of the Naza Group, commonly associated with luxury property and cars.
